Heritage House Coffee Now Improved
There’s something special about doing a little free work for a good cause. We call it volunteering of course, but for some folk this word is too emotive. Reminds them of wars and women trundling around a tea urn and making people be cheerful when they don’t feel it! I have done much volunteering over the years – various types. Always try to do good for my fellow human beings. School governor, parish councillor, church secretary, first aider. Now I’m a room steward in a historic house with some weighty heritage behind it. I relish working downstairs in the servants’ quarters where we display all the rules surrounding the footmens’ duties and how to make coffee and tea for guests etc. I’m pleased to report that we no longer put isinglass or fish scales in to bulk it up these days. The tea room serves the most sublime coffee – very modern indeed!
